Sofia de la Puente Secades, PhD student at the working groups of Prof. Floege and Prof. Jankowski, successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled “Vascular calcification in chronic kidney disease: Vitamin K deficiency and new mediators” with summa cum laude from RWTH Aachen University on 17th October 2023. She also successfully defended her thesis at Maastricht University on 14th November 2023. Sofia was an Early Stage Researcher in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Training Network CaReSyAn (Home | caresyan) As such, she was embedded in a structured graduate training program at European level, which was closely supported by her supervisors at RWTH Aachen University and Maastricht University. This successful cross-border collaboration in both research and teaching underlines the value of international educational networks. It also underlines the successful collaboration between RWTH Aachen University and Maastricht University in the field of cardiorenal syndrome.
