Niels van Best publishes his work on the role of bile acids on the maturation of the early gut microbiome in nature Communications

Niels van Best from the Hornef lab characterized in close collaboration with John Penders from the University in Maastricht and colleagues from Hannover and Leipzig as part of his PhD work the postnatal development of the enteric microbiota as well as the hepatic metabolome. Correlation analyses revealed a particular role of certain bile acids and, indeed, Niels was able to show that oral administration of these bile acids promoted the maturation of the enteric microbiota.
