Publication on the pathogenesis of neonatal Listeria infection

Dennis Pägelow, Kira van Vorst and Marcus Fulde, former group members that now work at the FU Berlin publish together with Mathias Hornef a study in Nature Communications in which they examine the course of the Listeria infection in the neonate host. They show that Listeria monocytogenes is able to colonize the nasopharyngeal mucosa, penetrate the olfactory epithelium and move along nervous structures through the lamina cribrosa to infect the frontal brain tissue.
