Vessel-on-a-chip

In order to more closely investigate the mechanisms behind vascular calcification, a microfluidic platform was created to recreate the endothelial and smooth muscle cell layers of the vessel wall. This platform will be used to observe the progression of vascular calcification under live microscopy and to investigate the role that Fetuin-A plays in this process. Collaborations with other researchers are being established to investigate other research applications where the device may be useful.
