Thomas Kraus is full professor and head of the Institute for Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine since 2001. His background is in material sciences and pharmacy as well as medicine, where he obtained his doctorate and approbation. He habilitated in occupational-, social- and environmental medicine. Since 2004, he is member of the DFG working group „Analysis of hazardous substances in biological materials“, and since 2006 board member and since 2021 president of the German Society for Occupational and Environmental Medicine. In 2010, he became a member of the scientific advisory board of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on Occupational diseases and is its vice-chair since 2018. In addition, he is a member of the commission “Environmental Medicine and Public Health” of the Robert-Koch Institute, Berlin since 2016.
