Two routine EEG devices are available for diagnostics in the outpatient area and eight fully equipped video EEG recording stations (invasive and non-invasive recording) for continuous recording in the inpatient area (and two additional for children). Specialized magnetic resonance imaging examinations according to special criteria are carried out in collaboration with the Clinic for Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at the University Hospital, and images of brain metabolism are also offered in collaboration with the local Clinic for Nuclear Medicine. Special laboratory and genetic tests are provided in house or sent to external, specialized laboratories.
In collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery at RWTH Aachen University Hospital, we offer customized operations to treat certain epilepsies, the insertion of EEG electrodes on the surface of the brain or in certain brain regions (intracranial and intracerebral electrodes) to enable a more detailed diagnosis of epilepsies, as well as the implantation of vagus nerve stimulators, deep brain stimulators or local stimulators applied under the skin of the head to treat difficult-to-treat epilepsies.
Together with colleagues from the fields of occupational therapy, health and nursing care, speech therapy, physiotherapy and the socio-medical service, we provide comprehensive psychosocial care with the aim of improving and maintaining your health and quality of life..
