Student Research Assistant (w/m/d) for Genetics Pipeline Development

The position can start as soon as possible with flexible working hours. The initial appointment will be for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bachelor or Master student to join our research team. The successful candidate will assist in building a comprehensive genetics pipeline using data from the UK Biobank. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in genetic data analysis, bioinformatics, and computational biology within a dynamic research environment focused on hepatology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and optimization of genetic analysis pipelines.
  • Process and analyze large-scale genetic datasets from the UK Biobank.
  • Implement and run bioinformatics tools and software for genetic data analysis.
  • Perform quality control checks on genetic data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the research team to interpret and integrate genetic findings with clinical data.
  • Document and report analysis methods and results clearly and accurately.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to ongoing research discussions.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or similar.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases.
  • Basic understanding of genetic concepts and data.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Prior experience with large datasets or high-performance computing is a plus.
