Aims & Projects of the 2nd Funding Period:
Aims
We will pursue the following aims in myelofibrosis:
Aim 1. Early detection of BM fibrosis in MPN (P5, P6)
Aim 2. Prevention of progression to overt myelofibrosis (P1, P2, P4, P5, P6)
Aim 3. Treatment of overt myelofibrosis (P1, P2, P3, P4)
Projects
P1: Spatial transcriptome mapping to identify druggable targets in the step-wise progression of bone marrow fibrosis
P2: Molecular targeting of STAT3-activating cytokines in the MPN pre-fibrotic niche
P3: Dissecting the spatio-temporal dynamics of bone marrow fibrosis in MPN in response to therapy
P4: Targeting the bone marrow inflammatory niche in myelofibrosis with nanomedicine therapeutics
P5: Targeting aberrant DNA methylation in myeloproliferative neoplasms
P6: Impact of Disease Burden and Timing of Disease Initiation on the Response to Interferon-alpha (IFNa) in MPN-associated myelofibrosis
SP: Integrative platform for clinical and genomic data in Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN)
Data Management
Data and Knowledge Management. Within the CRU individual projects, data from the biological experiments, genomic data, and clinical data (either from the Aachen MPN Data Warehouse or, upon request according to standard operating procedures, from the GSG-MPN bioregistry) will be generated. These data are managed by the service project, including bioinformatic analysis and the data warehouse with clinical data, and are available for all projects for the collaborative studies that interconnect the CRU projects. The RWTH IT Center will provide the research data management platform Coscine to store and describe scientific data with metadata via an object-based permanent storage.
