Bioinformatician (f/m/d) for Epigenetic Characterization of Pluripotent Stem Cells

As a tertiary and quaternary level provider of medical care, the University Hospital of RWTH Aachen combines patient-oriented medicine and care, teaching and research at an international level. The entire spectrum of medical care is provided through 36 specialist departments, 33 institutes and six interdisciplinary units. The co-location of patient care, research and teaching in a central building offers the best conditions for intensive interdisciplinary exchange and close clinical and scientific networking. Highly qualified teams of doctors, nurses and scientists work collaboratively to optimise the healthcare provision of our local, regional, national and international patients. Around 9,000 employees ensure that our care delivery is patient-oriented medicine and surpasses the highest quality standards. With 1,400 beds, the university hospital treats around 50,000 inpatient and 200,000 outpatient cases per year.

The Helmholtz Institute for Biomedical Engineering -Institute of Stem Cell Biology- is offering a position for a

Bioinformatician (f/m/d) for Epigenetic Characterization of Pluripotent Stem Cells

The fulltime postdoctoral position (38,5 hours/week) starting from October 2024 and is initially limited for 2 years.

Within the project "PluripotencyScreen" ( supported by VIP+BMBF), we are developing in innovative quality control method for iPSC based on epigenetic characteristics. To this end, we need to integrate public and own DNA methylation datasets of iPSCs during differentiation towards all three embryonic germ layers- endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm. Furthermore, we aim for a better understanding of age-ssociated epigenetic modifications. Thus, we are looking for a bioinformatican with a strong background in epigenetic characterization of cell preparations with focus on DNA methylation. We are integrating own and puplic EPIC Illumina Bead Chip datasets, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, WGBS, and nanopore sequencing datasets.
