The Department of Haematology, Oncology, Haemostaseology and Stem Cell Transplantation (Department of Medicine IV) - AG Koschmieder (MED IV)- is offering a position to work on the project entitled "Targeting the hematopoietic VEGF-VEGFR axis in Myeloproliferative Neoplasm progression" for a
PhD student (f/m/d) Biology, biochemistry, biomedicine, biotechnology or related biosciences
The position is currently available at 65% (25,025 hours/week) part-time and initially limited until 31.10.2027 with an option of prolongation up to the completion of the doctoral degree.
Roles and responsibilities
The successful applicant will conduct the scientific investigation of the VEGF-VEGFR signaling pathway in hematological malignancies. The project is integrated in ongoing studies of our group, focused on myeloid leukemias. The applicant will also be in direct collaboration with other investigators in our lab and collaborator research groups in Germany and abroad.
- Perform cell culture (mono and coculture) with primary cells, cell lines and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and iPSC-derived organoids and in vivo work with transgenic and xenograft murine models
- Cellular and molecular characterization (flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, RT-PCR, RNA-seq, scRNAseq) of disease-associated pathways
- Histological analysis of murine and patient samples
- Drug screening in vitro and in vivo validation
Your background
- Master/Diploma degree (preferentially biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, cell biology)
- Experience in tissue culture work, molecular biology and biochemistry
- Highly motivated, with the desire to work independently in an international team
- Desirable:
- In vivo work experience
- iPS cell culture experience
- Excellent organization and planning
- Critical thinking and independent work
- High motivation and Teamwork spirit
- Good communication in written and spoken english (Level C1)
