The project

Horizon Europe Project: Smart 4D biodegradable metallic shape-shifting implants for dynamic tissue restoration (BIOMET4D)

Job description

Pre-clinical evaluation (in vitro and in vivo) of novel shape-morphing implants for dynamic tissue restoration using highly innovative metamaterials, 4D smart metallic actuators, and advanced multi-domain optimization tools.

  • Evaluation of the potential clinical use of highly innovative muliple material self-expanding lattices made of Magnesium and Zinc for utilization in skin expansion
  • Design, implementation and execution of preclinical in vitro and in vivo models for the evaluation of biocompatibility, device-performance and the investigation of further influences on tissue stimulation/differentiation
  • Designing and performing proof-of-concept studies for novel biocompatible expansion devices
  • Cell-culture related cytocompatibility and cytotoxicity testing
  • Projectmanagement: Administration of the project and preparation of reports incl. presentation of data at project meetings
  • Public relations with respect to the project
  • Conceptualization and writing of peer-reviewed publications regarding the acquired data
  • Preparing respective animal proposals
  • Close, interdisciplinary cooperation with multinational project partner

Your profile

  • University degree (Dipl. or Master) and successfully finished doctorate / PhD in life sciences (biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, pharmacy, medicine or equivalent biomedical field of study)
  • Strong background in translational and interdisciplinary research work involving biomaterials and/or bioengineering
  • Documented experience with animal experimentation
  • Documented experience / basic knowledge with capability of further development in cell culture work, light / fluorescent microscopy and molecular biological techniques
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English (ideally also German)
  • A track record of publishing in leading peer-reviewed journals is considered a distinct advantage
  • Desirable
    •  Experience in project management
    • Good German language skills (Level B2)
    • Sucessfully completed PhD thesis
