Having passed the examination of his PhD study „The nature of the gut microbiota in early life, origin and impact of pioneer species“ at the RWTH Aachen already some weeks ago, Niels on April 29th also defended his work in front of the PhD committee of the University of Maastricht. He passed both exams with distinction. His PhD project was performed in collaboration between the Hornef group in our institute at the RWTH Aachen and John Penders and Paul Savelkoul from the Institute of Medical Microbiology at Maastricht University Medical Center. Congratulations!
